The City Research Centre assumes responsibility for identifying, collecting, cataloguing, preserving and exhibiting the primary material reflecting the cultural values and history of Antalya, and publishing related publications, and aims to carry out verbal history studies in a more systematic manner. The Centre has a research/specialised library and a digital archive where verbal history interview records, local newspapers and archives of local institutions can be accessed.
Library
The books in the library of the Centre for Urban Studies are related to history, archaeology and other branches of social sciences. Books, reports, etc. produced in Antalya or written about Antalya are also brought together in the library and kept open to researchers in the Antalya Room. The library does not provide lending or photocopying services.
Archive
The archival material in the Urban Research Centre consists mainly of Ottoman/Turkish documents and mainly sheds light on the 19th and 20th centuries of Antalya. The Centre makes available to researchers Antalya şer'iyye registers and provincial salnamas, as well as the local press archive, including newspapers such as Antalya, Zümrütova and Resmi Antalya. In addition, the archive of the Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute (Batem) and verbal history records are also open to researchers.
Research Centre Working Hours
The Urban Research Centre is open every day between 08.30-17.30 except public holidays and Sundays. Archive research/scanning computers are open between 09.30-17.00.
